Things to do

You will find plenty to keep you busy in the Pueblo Esparragos and Cala Llonga alone but if you would like to venture a bit further afield, Ibiza has lots to offer (and needs no introduction!).

It is an island full of opportunities to try new things or have an adventurous day out. Here is a list of some of the things you can enjoy:

Beaches – Ibiza has many beaches to choose from and it’s good fun to hire a car to get out and see as many as you can.

Ibiza Town – visit Ibiza Town, the island’s capital, where you will find bars, clubs, restaurants, a port and Dalt Vila (walled town), the old town with its famous cathedral.

Santa Eulalia – very easy to get around, with a café-lined promenade backing the beach. You can get a ferry directly from Cala Llonga to Santa Eulalia, where you will find plenty of shops, as well as Restaurant Street, which provides a wide variety of dining experiences and a great atmosphere.

Formentera – take a ferry to Ibiza’s neighbouring island, where you can hire a moped or bike to explore this slower-paced and peaceful area, as well as taking in beautiful beaches that resemble the Caribbean with clear turquoise waters and soft sand.

Clubs – Ibiza has a world-renowned club scene and you will find many big names here, such as Amnesia, Space, Privilege, es Paradis, Pacha, Ushuaia, Sankeys, Bora Bora and Eden.

Beach clubs – Ibiza has many beach clubs for you to spend the day at. Blue Marlin (Cala Jondal or Ibiza Marina) is a popular option and the sunset at Cafe del Mar is definitely worth seeing. You can also find another beach club very close to Cala Llonga – Amante Beach Club at Sol d’en Serra has one of the most peaceful and beautiful coves on the island. Located on Calle Fuera, you can walk there from the apartment and spend a relaxing day overlooking the sea before enjoying a fine dining experience set in this rustic cove. You can also enjoy morning yoga on certain days.

Water sports – everything from water skiing and sailing to scuba diving.

Sports – you can enjoy many sporting activities on the island, including walking, cycling, golf, yoga and horse-riding.

Aguamar waterpark – Playa d’en Bossa, great fun.

Es Vedra – off the coast of Cala d’Hort, this famous island is said to have a magnetic field and magical properties. Even if it doesn’t, it’s an impressive view!

Can Marça caves, San Miguel – originally a storage place for smugglers, the illuminated caves are full of interesting formations and a good chance to get away from the heat of the summer!

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) sites – Ibiza has four sites recognised by UNESCO. These include the fields of Posidonia of Ses Salines Natural Park, the Phoenican settlement of Sa Caleta, the fortifications of Ibiza Town and the cemetery of Puig des Molins.

Churches – Ibiza has many pretty churches to explore.

Other activities – visiting hippy markets, taking a trip on the tourist train, bowling or even trying an assault course.

Ibiza is a beautiful island to be enjoyed all year round. The main season runs from May-October. Although you won’t find so many places open off-season, there are lots of different things to enjoy and you can practically have the beach to yourself at quieter times!

Those brave enough can try sea-swimming during the cooler months, and you can also still enjoy walking, visiting winter markets, joining in with festivals and celebrations, cycling, horse-riding and welcoming the warmer weather by seeing the almond blossom appear in January / February.
